Abstract

Since 2001 until June 2014, Nestle Philippines Incorporated has accumulated accrued payables to third party logistic partners amounting to Php369,758,610.56 due to errors in the billing process that result to a threat to the relationship of the third party logistic partners. The accrued payables resulted from the inconsistencies in the shipment document which is the sole document for the billing transportation expenses. Two error types, trucker and vehicle type, were focused in the study as supported by Pareto Analysis. The trucker error occurred 41.33% and the vehicle type occurred 38.78% which contributed 80.115 of the inconsistencies. Each error was examined through Root cause Analysis, grouping cause factors to Man, Machine and Method and Why-Why Analysis, identifying noise, controllable and experimental factors. The controllable and experimental factors were given solutions and recommendations. If solutions were implemented, the accrued payables can be reduced to 94.47% and a reduced growth rate of 5.53% on the following year.
