Abstract

CAAP Kalibo International Airport is one of the few international airports of the Philippines. It caters both domestic and direct international flights operated by seven different airlines. With the continuous popularity of the province to the tourists and with people searching for a more efficient and faster transportation service, the trends indicated an increase in number of passengers that uses the facility. With its current operation, it operates under Level of Service (LOS) levels of less than C. LOS levels are Space Design Standards according to the International Air Transport Association, levels less than C indicates unstable flow, unacceptable congestion and delays for passengers. To identify the causes of the problem Cause and Effect Analysis was used. Root causes were then identified and were grouped into controllable, noise and experimental factors using the CNX analysis. Controllable causes were grouped into two. The proposals made for the controllable factors are reorganize training program and provide supervisors for the workers in operations. Three groups were made under the experimental factors. For the facility layout and capacity, the solution was to reorganize the current layout while maximizing the servers in all areas; for the monitoring system of the facility, the alternative chosen was purchasing security cameras and monitors; for the feedback system, the solution was to create an online website that enable the passengers to rate the current performance of the terminal. With the proposed situation most of the LOS standards in the operation improved to level A which indicates excellent services, free flow, direct routes, no delay and excellent level of comfort.
