Abstract

Antibody titres against Newcastle Disease Virus (NCDV), Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) and Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) of sixty-seven vaccinated gamefowl breeders from three different farms situated in Lucban, Quezon Rosario, Batangas and San Pablo, Laguna, respectively, were detected using indirect ELISA. Blood samples were collected from gamefowl breeders on day 0, 7, 37, 67, 97, 127 and day 157 post-administration of killed NCD+IB+IBD vaccine via wing vein venipuncture. The baseline titres for NCDV, IBV and IBDV antibodies in breeder gamefowls were noted. Geometric Mean Titres (GMT) of antibodies for NCDV, IBV and IBDV peaked at day 37 post-administration of killed NCDV+IBV+IBDV vaccine which were significantly different (p<0.05) from days 0, 7, 67, 97, 127 and 157. The baseline titres for NCDV, IBV and IBDV antibodies at day 0 showed good uniformities, and excellent uniformities were noted for all the viruses at day 37. It was therefore concluded thathigh NCDV, IBV and IBDV antibody titres in hyperimmunized gamefowl breederscould also translate to peak maternal antibodies that would be passed on to day old gamefowl chicks.
