Abstract
Septage collection is something that is not regularly observed in our daily routines. The National Sewerage and Septage Management Program (NSSMP), provided methods on conducting a feasibility study for the construction of Septage Treatment Facility for the different municipalities in the Philippines. The first part involves determining the volume of septage tanks for households, commercial, and institutional establishments, and determining the required number of vacuum trucks to collect the septage every three to five years, as required by the Department of Health (DOH). Vacuum trucks are used to pump out septage from the septic tanks and transport it to the septage treatment facility. Bocaue, Bulacan was chosen as the place of study since it does not have a septage treatment facility as of now. A dessign of a collection system is needed to design the treatment facility. By conducting a survry using the tools provided by the NSSMP, it was found out that at least two 10 m3 vacuum trucks are needed for operation, operating for 10 hours a day.
