Abstract
At present, FLSmidth Philippines Inc. experiences problems in monitoring their consignment operations. There have been discrepancies and redundancies in their inventory data leading to delayed customer payments which amounts to Php 50,223,426.03. This amount is a delayed working capital that may soon disrupt the company's operation. As a preventive measure, developing an information system that will improve the monitoring of the consignment process is necessary. The information system targeted to increase the efficiency of the monitoring process and to eliminated the issues in the inventory data. An iterative approach in creating the consignment software was used as the systems development methodology. DIfferent modules were created for the systems such as Application Layout, User Management, and Security Essentials, Purchase Order Processing, Delivery Management, Item Withdrawal, Email Notifications, and Invoice and Payment Tracking. Every created module was tested and evaluated then feedback from the users were synthesized. Results showed that the user difficulty rating between the current system and the developed software improved from 4 (difficult) to 1.875 (easy). Also, the task times in performing the different processes under the current and proposed system improved as well. A 4.48% improvement on the task times was observed. From these assessments, it is recommended that the developed system should be implemented. However, it is still suggested that further systems evaluation should be done to make the program more user-friendly. The system can also be considered in a larger scale operation which includes regular sales in order to track the over-all stock movement of the company. Additionally, the system can also include invoice creation in the process to eliminate the lead time for the remote accounting department to issue the invoice.
