Abstract

Currently, the regular capacity of the Fabtech Exports Industries Inc. (FEII) cannot meet the demand. As a result, the company scheduled overtime shifts to cover for the delayed kitchen equipment that cost Php 561, 489.67 in 2014. This study aimed to increase the capacity of the production area of FEII by at least 30%. Work measurement techniques were employed to establish time standards used in the capacity plan. Why-why analysis and Pareto principle were used to identify root causes that contribute to insufficient capacity. Proposed actions to address these root causes include installation of wall insulators, training of workers to wear PPEs, following a systematic inspection, training of fabrication operators, including assembly drawing in the routing sheet, reproducing the routing sheet, placing of frequently used tool area in the work table, improving the plant layout, and reassignment and hiring of workers. Overall, the capacity of the plant will be increased by 55.6% if the proposed actions are implemented. The company should spend Php 31,719.00 as implementation costs of the proposals.
