Abstract

This study evaluated the irrigation performance of Division II and IV of UPRIIS. Engineering cropping pattern and CROPWAT were used to estimate Farm Irrigation Requirement and Irrigation Diversion Requirement (IDR). Quantum Graphic Information System was used to compute for the weighted porosity and percolation. IDR for the wet and dry seasons of Divisions II and IV for the years 2009-2012 were estimated and evaluated. IDR for the dry season is higher than the wet season. Actual and estimated values of IDR volume were subjected to independent t-test to determine the statistical difference. All estimated volume of IDR resulted to significant difference when compared with actual volume, except for estimates for dry season of Division IV. System efficiencies of each divisions were computed. Average system efficiency of Division II for dry and wet season were computed to be 58.58% and 41.68% respectively, using engineering cropping pattern while CROPWAT yielded 64.37% and 47.03%, respectively. Using engineering cropping pattern, the computed system efficiency for Division IV were 57.19% and 46.53% for the dry and wet season, respectively. Computed system efficiency from CROPWAT for Division IV were 53.30% and 50.47% for the dry and wet season, respectively. The system efficiency of the two divisions did not deviate far from the design efficiency standard of 50%. Both divisions got a corresponding "good" and "reasonable" rating for system performance.
