Abstract

Leisure Farms Tagaytay, Inc. is a company that engages in the production of bell pepper, lettuce, and tomato under a protected environment to ensure year-round and high quality produce. This field practice report however, focuses only in the environmental control operations in a bell pepper greenhouse. The intern was involved in the monitoring and analyzing the condition of the environment inside the greenhouse through the factors affecting it such as temperatures, relative humidity, root zone temperature, and light intensity with the use of improvised microclimate station (data logger). Furthermore, the intern observed and learned the basics of controlling these parameters by means of ventilation, shading, and misting. The field practice made it possible for the intern to apply the engineering principles that she learned throughout her course, specifically the structure and environment engineering, in actual work. Finally, she evaluated the operations of the company and provided suggestions and recommendations in the environment control operations in the bell pepper greenhouse.
