Abstract
This study was conducted to locate QTLs associated with iron toxicity tolerance using the rice (Oryza sativa L.) mapping population of F8 recombinant inbred lines derived from IR29 x Pokkali. Phenotypic data morphological traits such as root length, shoot length, total fresh weight, total dry weight and reduction in root length and total dry weight. Genotypic data were obtained from SNP and SSR markers. A total of 38 QTLs that have an association with iron toxicity tolerance were detected. Eight out of 25 QTLs detected using SNP markers were significant based on the permutation test. These are qDW8, qSL1, qRL5, qRL6, qFW8, qSES10, qRLRED5 and qTDWRED3 associated with total dry weight, shoot length, root length, total fresh weight, Standard Evaluation Score, reduction in root length and reduction in total dry weight, respectively. Two out of 13 QTLs detected using SSR markers were significant qSL2 and qSL6 which are both associated with shoot length.
