Abstract

the bottling operations and processes of Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. Santa Rosa Plant 1 (SRI) was studied and analyzed through historical data and actual observations. Possible areas for improvement were identified. Upon the identification of these areas, major problems that contribute to high production costs were determined. It was found that the production lines of SRI incurred significant high value of costs because of production stoppages and disruptions and among the two types of stoppages which are equipment performance losses (EPL) and operations performance losses (OPL). OPL had the most contribution in production stoppages in the past five months. Among the four lines, production line 1 had incurred the highest value of opportunity loss due to OPL thus, this made the line the focus of this practicum study. A root cause analysis of on the occurrences of OPL was conducted. Upon completion of the analysis, alternatives that could solve the root causes were formulated. A cost-benefit analysis on each alternative was done. The optimal alternatives were also evaluated through the use of a factor-rating method. Three alternatives won the evaluation. a total benefit of PhP 25,371, 910.65 or PhP 5,074,382.13 per month could be achieved if the alternatives would be implemented and downtime would be minimized from 95.68 minutes to an average of 52.65 minutes.
