Abstract

Universal Robina corporation Bagong Ilog plant has four plants that currently produce wafer sandwiches, biscuits, chocolates, and coffees. Data had shown that the wafer plant incurs 16.72% of raw material rejects that is contributed by its four flavours. In these four flavours, Wafrets Brix Cheese has the biggest contribution to both output and rejects, making it the focus of the study. The computed average RM reject of Wafrets Brix Cheese is 5.38%, excluding the inherent rejects. This exceeds the set goal of URC which id 2%. These rejects incur a material cost of Php 17,224.11 per day or PHP 327, 258.03 per month. Recommended solutions for Controllable Factors were installation of a thermometer with alarm on the block cooler, resetting of sensor of pusher and modifying the table, and acquiring and keeping of spare of parts. Solutions for Experimental Factors were installation of fixtures that will hold the adjustments of the air blower, the oven depositor, the cram spreader , and rotating press. and installation of a stainless steel distribution guide. Implementation of these solutions can reduce the occurrence of uncoated sandwich rejects as well as sheet breakages. Combining these improvements can reduce the reject rate from 5.38%, to 1.02%. Subtracting the equipment and fixture from the revenue equivalent of the rejects, URC can realize a total benefit of Php 70,329.46 per day or Php 942,539.48 per month.
