Abstract

Nineteen locally developed single cross sweet corn hybrids were crossed with introduced hybrids, Hw15 and Hw13, in the 1967 wet season. The performance of these double-cross hybrids was tested in the 1967-68 dry season and the 1968 wet season. The double cross hybrids failed to show significant differences in yield based on weight of marketable ears. In yield based on number of marketable ears, the double-cross hybrids were not significantly better than the hybrid check, Philippine hybrid 801; however, hybrid (PYS4 x PYS7) x Hw13 gave significantly more ears than the variety check.
