Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at Barangay Sta. Rita Capas, Tarlac during the summer of the year 2007. The purpose is to analyze the agroecosystem that exists in the area and evaluate the needs of the community for the adoption of sustainable agriculture. This farm practice specifically aims to describe the bio-physical, socio-economic, socio-cultural and socio-political conditions of the area. It also aims to determine the problems and potentials for the development agricultural production of the family with the use of sustainable agriculture framework. It also aims to identify and assess the needs and preferred technologies of farmers in the community.

The area is one of the barangays in Capas, Tarlac known as melting pot of Luzon and one of the rice granaries in Luzon. It is 8 km. from the poblacion and an adjoining community of Barangay Manga, Capas, Tarlac. Most of the farmers are dependent on rice farming as the main source of income. The farmers use the modern way of farming in order to increase rice production.
