Abstract

All the three varieties showed a fairly good stand at retooning and harvest time. Among the three varieties, POJ 3016 registered the highest percentage of rat infestation. College 39 flowered the earliest and Hawaii 37-1933, the latest. POJ 3016 matured in 10 months; and college 39 and Hawaii 37-1933, in 12 months. Hawaii 37-1933 produced more millable stalks to a stool than either college 39 or POJ 3016. Their differences in yield of canes were significant. POJ 3016 gave the highest mean yield of sugar (2.46 piculs) to every ton of cane. Hawaii 37-1933 gave 2.16 piculs and college 39, 2.00 piculs. Hawaii 37-1933 produced the most number of computed piculs of sugar to hectare which was 1.955.80 and college 39 with only 109.06 piculs.
