Abstract
The average yearly calf crop of Philamin and Philippine cows in the College herd from 1947 to 1955 was 80.8 per cent. Philamin cows alone averaged 79.0 per cent and the native cows, 82.6 per cent. Interval between calvings of Philippine cows average 372.0 days with a range of 322 to 539 days; Philamin cows, 447.7 days with a range of 310 to 687 days. Month of calving was not seasonal, but a high percentage of 26.5 in December for Philippine cows and 18.8 per cent in September for Philamin cows, was observed. At first calving, the average age of Philamin cows was 2 ½ years. The average weight of calves from Philippine cows was 20.8 kilograms.
