Abstract

This thesis deals which an administration of problems and difficulties encountered in introducing into the Philippines newly severed marcots from prize-winning trees of seven leading varieties of lamyai or longan, Euphoria longana Lam. From the Chiengmai district, Thailand in 1966-1968 by the fruit drops Crops Section.

Two test shipments were undertaken. The first, in September, 1967, comprising a total of 104 marcots resulted in 73 living plants in pots, two months after arrival, but only 7 survived field planting stage.

In the second shipment of 70 marcots received in January 1968, 51 are in promising healthy condition but not quite established to justify final count.
