Abstract

The closest spacing (100 x 30 cm.) gave the highest early, late and total yield of both marketable and non-marketable fruits per plot. However, close spacing resulted in decreased number and weight of fruits per plant. Eight-week old transplants exceeded six- and four-week-old transplants in yield and number of fruits. Smooth Green exceeded Golden Gate and Dumaguete in number of fruits per plant. The eight-week-old transplant and the closely spaced plants (100 x 30 cm.) consistently excelled in early, late and total yield.

The youngest seedling transplanted and the plants spaced closely bloomed early.
