Abstract

The effects of NAA, urine (human male), coconut “water” and 2,4-D on the growth and regeneration of Para rubber stem cutting were compared. Treatments with these substances or their sources affected early callus formation but did not significantly increase the frequency of cuttings which formed cellus.

Increase in concentrations of the substances significantly reduced the number of cuttings with activated buds. Coconut “water”-treated cuttings produced significantly longer shoots than NAA-treated ones. No cutting rooted even after (8) weeks from planting.
