Abstract

Using gains in weight, heartgirth, and height as criteria for growth and fattening, heifers fed with corn silage supplemented daily with 3 kilograms concentrate showed better performance throughout the feeding period compared to another group also on corn silage but supplemented daily with only 1 kilogram concentrate.

There was no significant difference in result between the two treatments with respect to carcass yield and quality except for the fat content of the rib-eye which was highly significant in favor of heifers fed with 1 kilogram concentrate per day.

Based on total feed consumed, P78.41 was spent for lot I animals to produce 66.4 kg. and P121.04 for animals in lot II for a product of 88.3 kg.
