Abstract

Progenies of thirteen highly rust-resitant Arabica strains were studied for their botanical characters and field assistance to rust disease.

Only four (4) of the strains showed complete field resistance to rust. They are: S.446, S.795, 205935, and 205941.

Of the seven (7) characters of the plants observed, only increments in height, lateral branches size of stomata, and leaf area showed significant differences. The differences in girth increments and length of internodes were not significant.

Strains with bigger stomates were found to be more resistant to rust disease.
