Abstract

Preference of a decision maker is quantified by a utility function via assessment. So, the assessment process must be an efficient and consistent one. To support the decision maker in here, the whole assessment process is implemented in a software. So, a computer-based decision aid is developed to take care of efficiency. Consistency checks are introduced to the decision aid to check the utility function for consistency. A functional form aebx that simultaneously represent the qualitative characteristics and quantitative restrictions of the utility function is introduced. The decision aid also has the following features: interactive assessment of utility function, visual representation of the assessed utility function through computer graphics, and a versatile data management.
