Abstract

The study was made to compare five departmental examinations in Math 14 (Plane Trigonometry) using the Multicriteria Analysis. Ten instructors were asked to evaluate each Math 14 examination with respect to eight preferential criteria using the nominal scale from 1 to 5 where 1 represents not satisfactory and 5 as highly satisfactory. A voting procedure was used in combining the individual preferences of the respondents. The examination constructed for September 1987, May 1988 and September 1988 were found to be the most preferred by the decision makers.

The Kendall Coefficient of Concordance W was used in determining the association among the rankings obtained. The high significant value obtained for W expressed an agreement among the respondents giving the "hest" estimate of the "true" ranking of those exams according to the set of criteria which was provided by the order of the sums of the ranks. The examination constructed for May 1988 resulted to be the most preferred based in the ten different rankings.
