Abstract

The level of transfer of learning of students in Math 17 and some possible factors that could affect 1evels of transfer were determined in the study. An examination which dealt on the application of the concept of domain to radical function was designed and constructed with its items categorized into three levels basing on the form of the expressions under the radical sign. The finalized exam was administered to thirty (30) Math 17 students from whom primary data were obtained. Test scores were used in obtaining the percentages of samples in each level and the frequency distribution of samples in each level with respect to the variables considered. The Path Coefficient Analysis was used in determining the relationship of the different factors considered to levels of transfer. Recommendations that could aid both the teachers and students to maximize the student ability to apply learned knowledge to other situations were made based from the interpretations of the data obtained. Results show that there is uniform distribution of samples across the levels which means that there is great individual differences among the students in Math 17. Also, among the factors considered sex, and the number of times the course has been significantly affect the level of transfer the student.
