Abstract
This study presents a goal programming model for expense budgeting in a hospital. The model incorporates the different objectives set by the hospital ad -ministration based upon such considerations as: Increased workload in extending medical and health services; Improvement of existing hospital facilities which need major repair and renovations; and Augmentation of existing personnel in the Medical, Nursing, and Administrative division. Also considered are the personnel to patient ratios of physicians and nurses, and bed occupancy. The results are based upon data from National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Medicine Center (N011- RN1C) and indicate that the model is practical for budgeting by conducting experiments on the model.
