Abstract
This study is concerned with the formulation of an inventory model suitable for the institute of Chemistry; and the analysis of the inventory of the institute. It forecasts the demand for certain critical items in the institute for the year 1988 based on survey and seasonal variation. The said critical items in this study are yellow [paper, copying paper and mimeo ink. In addition to checking if the obtained values are feasible, the budget for each item for the year 1988 are determined. The necessary data were obtained from the inventory clerks and supply records of the said institute, the UPLB Property Division and UPLB Budget Office. Exponential Smoothing was the technique used to come um with the demand forecast for January 1988. The same method was used in obtaining the budget for each item for 1988. The survey was used to forecast demand for the remaining months of 1988. Moreover, the method of Simple Linear Regression and Stripping were used to obtain seasonal variability. The results showed that the mathematical model suitable for the Institute of Chemistry is: 0 =E. Z.+SS The demand for the critical items were found to be high during the months of May-June and October-November.
