Normal-state Hall effect in HgBa2CaCu2O6+δ and TIBa2CaCu2O7-δ
Abstract
The normal-state Hall effect is studied in thin-film samples of the isomorphic pair of superconductors HgBa2CaCu2O6+δ (Hg-1212) and TIBa2CaCu2O7-δ (Tl-1212). A comparison of the slopes of inverse Hall mobility H cot θH(T2), together with a comparison of characteristic temperature T*/Tc below which there is a systematic deviation from T2, suggests that Hg-1212 has twice the charge-carrier density of Tl-1212 for samples with close to optimal Tc. This is attributed to the significant role played by the redistribution of oxygen as a result of exchanging Hg and Tl cations.
