Angiogenic property of tabacco (Nicotiana Tabacum) leaves
Issue Date
4-2008
Abstract
Different solvent fractions of tabacco (Nicotiana tabacum) leaves were tested for angiogenic property using chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay. The chloroform fraction was found to possess angiogenic activity as higher degree of vascularization in the blood vessels was observed. A dose-dependent relationship was observed up to a dosage of 0.75 mL. The chloroform fraction was found toxic at a dosage higher than 1.25 mL. No angiogenic activity was observed on the dichloromethane, butanol, insoluble and water fractions.
