Abstract
Forty species of mites including 21 predators, 5 phytophages, 12 detritivores and 2 with uncertain feeding habits were collected during field surveys in several provinces in Luzon and Palawan Islands. Altogether, the plants of the Broad Mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks), now consist of 62 species, 16 of which are new for this mite species. Twelve species of predators are now known to be associated with P. latus, 10 of which belong to the family Phytoseiidae and one each to the Ascidae and Cunaxidae. Paraphytoseius orientalis (Narayanan et al.) was most frequently found with the pest on some of the latter's many host plants. Other mites that were collected from new hosts or habitats are included in the list of species but are not necessarily associated with P. latus.
