Abstract
One hundred ninety nine (199) rice selection consisting of: NCT IL TPR (36), NCT IL DWSR (12), MAT (30), HYBRID (43), SP (30), UPLAND (24), RLDS (24) were evaluated fro stemborer resistance during the July to December 2011 cropping season. Result showed that all selections screened in all ecosystems were resistant to white stem borer (WSB) at vegetative stage 35 DAT. At the reproductive phase, majority of the lines evaluated were resistant to WSB. NCT I IL TPR, index # 35 was moderately resistant. For the hybrid entries, index 34 showed intermediate reactions and the rest were resistant to WSB. For sheath blight (ShB) reaction, majority of the screened rice entries in almost all ecosystems showed resistant reaction to the ShB disease. For bacterial leaf blight (BB), index # 3,6,8,12,13,14,15,20, 23, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34 and 36 showed resistant reaction in NCT 1 IL TPR. For NCT 1 DWSR, index # 7, 12, 15, 17 and 34 had resistant reaction to BB. In MAT, index # 4,6,7,9,10, 13, 15,22,25,26 and 29 showed resistance to BB. Moreover, hybrid index # 9, 22, 27, 28, 31, 35 and 39 were resistant to BB. Among those for Special Purpose, index # 2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11,12,17,18,19,26 and 28 showed resistant reaction. For Upland, index # 3,15,20 and 23 showed resistant reaction to BB. For RLDS, index # 11,13,15,16 and 22 were observed resistant to bacterial blight disease under natural field condition.
