Fermented guava fruit extract as natural attractant for fruitfly (Diptera: Tephridae)

Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of guava fruit extract as adult fruit fly attractant and to identify the fruit fly species caught in the trap. The natural trap attracted both male and female fruit flies. Twelve fruit fly species were trapped and identified as Strauzia longipennis (Wiedemann). Tephritis formosa (Loew), Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt), Bactrocera invadens (Drew) Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillet), Chetostoma sp., Rhagoletis sp., Munromyia sp. and four other Bactrocera species taht were not identified. The natural trap is also capable of attarcting any insect that has the ability to fly.
