Vulnerability of coconut to attack of non-indigenous pests
Issue Date

Abstract
For the last two decades, the coconut palm was beset with insect pests. All of these were found to be either a new record of occurrence in the area or recorded for the first time in the Philippines. About 1 million palms in Sto. Domingo and Sta. Elena, Iriga City were defoliated by 3 species of Limocodidae in Sept. 2009. Three months later, the palms started to recover naturally due to the fungus and virus which infected the slug-caterpillars.
