Abstract

Species composition at the southern portion of Laguna de Bay was recorded. Seasonal variation in frequency, density, biomass and rate of production of four community occurring aquatic macrophytes, namely Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms, Vallisneria natans (Lour.) Hara, Ceratophyllum demersum L., and Potamogeton malaianus Mig. at the Bayog area of Laguna de Bay, Municipality of Los Baños, was determined. Frequency and density data were assessed through the count quadrant mrthod. The harvest method was used for biomass and productivity studies. Photographs on the frequently encountered species were taken thrughout the study period. The study recorded 14 species and genera representing 12 families of aquatic angiosperms. The frequency and density of the four selected species varied within the year, while maximum biomass was strained during the rainy months and was recorded to be at a minimum in the summer months.
