Abstract
The Rice IPM CD provides a framework to integrate facts, information, images, and videos on integrated pest management (IPM) in tropical rice production. It uses the latest techniques in information technology to provide users with convenient interactive hypermedia capabilities to seek and link the various information components. It contains section on pest ecology; crop checking; 214 fact sheets on major insect pests, rats, diseases, weeds, and soil problems; crop growth and pest damage; pest management options and decision-making; and economics. It also contains a series of interactive, multimedia Lucid keys on insects, 1,282 images, and 30 videos. There is also a section on various aspects of IPM information, frequently asked questions, a multiple-choice quiz, a slide tape tutorial on biological control and an information sources section. The CD is designed as a resource package for agricultural technicians, researchers, advisors and students and for those engaged in IPM research, extension and training.
