Abstract

This paper aims to develop a questionnaire that measures the self-regulated learning skills of students enrolled in HK 12 Walking for Fitness, which was offered in a mode of blended online learning and distance education. All students enrolled in HK 12 Walking for Fitness for the first and second semesters of the academic year 2021 to 2022 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), were invited to answer the self-reported questionnaire via electronic mail or e-mail. Out of the 1,168 students, 117 or 10.02% participated. The reliability of a scale and Principal Axis Factoring were calculated in validating the two parts of the questionnaire. The first part is the scale in choosing the preferred Mode of Learning. It has five items with Cronbach’s Alpha of α = .938. The second part is the scale in measuring Self-Regulated Learning Skills which has 17 items with Cronbach’s Alpha of α = .832. This scale is divided into four factors: Time Management and Effort Regulation, Self-Evaluation, Help-Seeking Strategy, and Task Strategy. The questionnaire can be used to identify if the mode of learning pertains to the student’s self-regulated learning skills in performing activities under the walking for fitness program. It can also be used for other activities that use mobile phone applications to guide mobility and execute exercises such as the Pacer Pedometer and Step Tracker Application. It is also recommended to develop a questionnaire that measures motivational strategies in self-paced learning offered in elective human kinetics activity.
