Research-extension-farmer linkage in the barren hills of Colawin, Argao, Cebu
Issue Date

Abstract
The Cebu Farmer-Scientist Training Project (FSTP) under the Agro-Industrial Development Program (AIDP) of the College of Agriculture was analyzed to see how the much-needed reversals or shifts in rural development work are being operationalized. The need is felt because of the wide gap between technology development and technology adoption. Through the partnership that has been formed among the researchers, the extension agent, and the farmers in technology development and utilization, the project has shown that the shortcomings of the earlier unidirectional and non-participatory process followed by research and extension in the development and dissemination of technology could be overcome. Such partnership has led to the development of a new breed of farmers called farmer scientists.
