Socio-psychological factors affecting rural women's willingness to participate in development broadcasting activities
Issue Date

Abstract
A large majority of the respondents expressed willingness to participate in development broadcasting activities.
A significant relationship was found between respondents' willingness to participate by listening to the radio program and involvement in organizational activities and respect for knowledge and technology/management orientation. On the other hand, respondents' willingness to participate in pre-broadcast activities was significantly affected by the following variables: membership in community organizations, participation in community-related activities, involvement of family members in organizational/community-related activities, respect for knowledge and technology/ management orientation, economic growth and philosophical and religious values.
Variables that significantly affected respondents' willingness to participate in actual broadcast activities were involvement of family members in organizational/community-related activities, respect for knowledge and technology/management orientation, outlook on society/social change, and philosophical and religious values.
Except for orientation towards others/collective action, economic growth and self-worth, all the variables significantly affected respondents' willingness to participate in post-broadcast activities. Similarly, except for cosmopoliteness, orientation towards others/collective action, economic growth and self-worth, the other variables had a significant relationship with the respondents' willingness to attend community assembly meetings.
Self-worth was the only characteristic that affected respondents' degree of willingness to participate in development broadcasting activities
