Abstract
A new genus and species of stick insect, Spinophetes spinotergum Zompro & Eusebio, gen. et sp. nov. (Phasmatodea: Heteronemiidae: Lonchodinae) is described and illustrated from the Philippine island of Mindanao, specifically Mount Apo, the Philippines' highest peak. These small Lonchodinae show striking development, of the abdomen in the female. The new genus seems to be related to Periphetes Stal, 1877.
