Sensitivity of cotesia plutellae and diadegma semiclausum, parasitoids of diamondback moth, plutella xylostella (L.) to several insecticides

Abstract
The sensitivity of laboratory reared Cotesia plutellae (Taiwan and indigenous strains) and Diadegma semiclausum adults to eight insecticides was evaluated by residual fil method.
Based on the LC50 the order of decreasing toxicity for Cotesia Taiwan strain was: metamidophos > cartap = malathion > deltamethrin > fenvalerate > teflubenzuron > carbaryl > Btk while for indigenous Cotesia was: metamidophos > malathion > cartap > deltamethrin > fenvalerate > carbaryl teflubenzuron > Btk. The indigenous strain was six times more tolerant or less sensitive to fenvalerate (6x), deltamethrin (5x) and carbaryl (4.5 x) than the indigenous strain.
Based on the LC50 the order of decreasing toxicity of different insecticides to D. semiclausum was: metamidophos > cartap = malathion > fenvalerate > carbaryl > deltamethrin > teflubenzuron > Btk.. Diadegma was more sensitive to carbaryl, teflubenzuron, fenvalerate and Btk than Cotesia.
