Laboratory manual in Zootechnics 116 (Poultry production)

Abstract

This manual aims to illustrate basic principles of poultry production through conduct of relevant and practical poultry production exercises. Contents of this manual may serve as a reference to students enrolled in Zootechnics 116 (Poultry Production) course and will give a better understanding on the different classes and types of poultry species, methods of egg grading and candling, principles of hatchery and incubation management, production of broiler and layer chickens. Synthesis of a feasibility study is also included in the manual. Animal welfare is also addressed by illustrating and explaining proper handling of birds.
