CPAf@24 Part 1: The main celebration, our leaders and the elections
Our invited guest speaker, Dr. Clarita R. Carlos, heads the Asia Pacific Institute of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Foundation, Inc. (APICCMAFI) and the StratSearch Foundation, Inc. She is a distinguished professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman and an expert in foreign policy, defense and security, geopolitics, and climate change. For more than five decades, she has been a consultant at the Philippine Congress and various other government and non-government agencies. She has also undertaken consultancy work with the private sector. Dr. Carlos was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Cornell University and a Senior Fulbright at UCLA.

CPAf@24 Part 2: Book launching and presentation of the development innovations and policy laboratory
CPAf released three new knowledge products based on recently completed research activities of its staff. The books focused on the different aspects of organic agriculture industry in the Philippines. CPAf will also set up a Development Innovations and Policy Laboratory (DIPLab), which aims to enhance the capacities of producers and consumers of agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) research to transform sound evidence into innovative solutions for societal development. The DIPLab will offer the following services: 1. Database of policy-related knowledge products or documents in the AANR sector. 2. Capacity building of various stakeholders by offering improved learning modules. 3. Physical facility for collaborative learning and co-creation activities.

CPAf@24 Part 2: Policy forum on Mandanas ruling and our local leaders
The national election is not the only anticipated event in 2022 for the Philippine government. As the Mandanas ruling has been approved and is going to be implemented starting 2022, changes in the local government, as well as the national government agencies, are inevitable. In this session, we will talk about the Mandanas ruling and what kind of leaders are needed for its efficient and effective implementation.

Adaptation and Coping Strategies of Coastal and Lake Fishing Communities Amidst Climate Change
The Community Innovations Studies Center (CISC) of the College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf), UP Los Baños hosted a webinar with the theme "SWIM or SINK: Adaptation and Coping Strategies of Coastal and Lake Fishing Communities Amidst Climate Change." The webinar was held on 25 August 2021 via Zoom and Facebook live. Two research papers were presented in the webinar. Ms. Maria Francesca O. Tan presented her paper entitled “Adaptive Strategies and Coping Mechanisms of Lakeshore Communities on Climate Related Disturbances in the Major Lakes of Luzon” and Ms. Samantha Geraldine G. De los Santos talked about “Adaptation through Limited Knowledge: Sarangani Fisherfolk’s Strategies to Address the Changing Climate.” Dr. Jennifer Marie S. Amparo of the Department of Social Development Services, CHE and Ms. Nazrin Camille M. Castro of The Climate Reality Project Philippines served as discussants during the webinar.
