Abstract
The set of instructions constructed for the IBM 1620 is sufficient to execute the formal analysis of parallel regression lines. The long series of addition, division, squaring and inversion of matrices is well executed after transforming the data into the common logarithms. The average run she of the problem is twenty-five minutes. The sample problem resulted in the following functional relations:
For commercial laying mash: Y,' -4.5752692 + 0.041878638 X1 + 3.7744291 X2 ' +0.49256554 X3
For basal ration with 27; calcium: Y. -4.5963233 + 0.041878638 X1 + 3.7744291 12 +0.49256554 X3 For basal ration with 3% calcium: Y,. -4.60722535 + 0.041878638 X1 + 3.7744291 X2 +0.49256554 X3
For basal ration with 42; calcium: Y = -4.60635565 +0.04187863'6' X1 4- 3.7744291 X2 4 +0.4925(554 X3
For basal ration with 5/; calcium:
"X5 -4.588442 + 0.041878638 X + 3.7744291 X2 1 -F0.49256554 — 1
where: Y = egg production X2 = temperature 1 X2 = duration of sunshine X4 = solar radiation
All independent variables contributed significantly to the relation between the treatments and the dependent variables, The regression lines are parallel but do not have the same origin. Parallelism implies that each treatment has similar interaction with the dependent variables, Difference in position indicates differences in treatment effects.
