Abstract

Mercury resistance levels of bacteria isolated from water samples taken from Kalayaan, alabang, Pasig, Mayondon and Jala-jala areas of Laguna de Bay were determined. Of the five sites, the Jala-jala samples showed the highest incidence of Hg resistant bacteria while Alabang showed the least. Antibiotic resistance patterns among the five sites showed a high incidence of resistance to penicillin in both Hg resistant and Hg sensitive isolates.
