Abstract
A total of 172 samples of Decaptcrus kurronles from Tayabas Bay. Quezon were examined to determine the length-weight relationship. size at first sexual maturity and spawning periodicity. The length-weight relationship equation obtained was W=0,00865•L' (r2-0.94) Parameter Is was near the cube law value (3). thus showing isometric growth or a relatively constant growth of the body parts of the fish. The sexual ratio of the fish was 1.36:1 (male to female), thus showing a gonochoristic sexual pattern. Microscopic examination enabled judgment of sexual maturity and type of oocyte development of D. kurroides. Size at first sexual maturity of the fish was attained at 16,3-173 an TL, although some mature at sizes 15.2-16.2 cm TL. Oocyte development was asynchronous indicating that the fish is capable of multiple spawning. Examination of the GS1 plot showed that the fish spawns all year round at monthly intervals. The information gathered with regards to length-weight relationship, size at first sexual maturity and spawning periodicity could serve as a starting point for specific management strategies.
