Abstract
Direct extraction of nickel from the metal solution and extraction from the hydroxide slurry were compared and the latter showed greater efficiency of extraction. Thus, iron(III) and nickel(II) were also extracted from individual hydroxide slurries with Versatic 911 in kerosene as extractant. The pH for the maximum extraction of Fe(III) is st 2.6 and Ni(II) is at 7.0. 7xtraction and separation of iron from the electro. plating nickel solution was carried out at pH 2.2, where the concentration of nickel in the organic phase was considered more important but with almost the same effiicency of extraction as in pH 2.0. She effect of varying organic to aqueous phase ratio was studied and the results indicate that it has no significant influence on the extraction process.
