Abstract

The performance efficiency of movable tower crane used in Zuellig Building Project was determined and analyzed. The calculation of the crane's efficiency was obtained through the aid of the concept of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Actual lifting operations of the equipment were observed and recorded together with the corresponding time of each observation. The results of relating the three parameters of OEE which are availability rate, performance rate, and quality rate showed that the crane was 72.1% efficient at the project site which is within the range of an average production rate ranging from 55 to 85%. The equipment efficiency was found to be affected by labor and material delay types which are qualified in terms of percentage through the use of Method Productivity Delay Model (MPDM). Additionally, the operating cost of the equipment was calculated to support the specific objectives of the study.
