Abstract

XYZ Publishing is responsible for the distribution and editing of the manuscript distributed to different schools. Due to the law regarding the change of Department of Education curriculum to the K-12 f program, developed standard time in 2013 and ever increasing competition in publishing industry, the XYZ Publishing had the problem on high cost of editing manuscript. Hence, this study aimed and developed a cost efficient annual working schedule through effective allocation of resources-monetary and workforce-to achieve efficient operations and improved income. Root cause and repeated why analysis were used to study the factors which have contributed to the high cost of editing manuscript. Root causes were further classified into three groups - Controllable, Noise and Experimental. The controllable factors were identified and given improvement and controls. The experimental factors were isolated and different alternative solutions to solve the problem were created. These alternative solutions were subjected to further computation and analysis then came up with the best alternative solution - Alternative Solution 96. The projected benefits were derived and within a five year plan, the benefits were converted into their corresponding present worth. Implementation of Alternative Solution 96 given a 15% MARR within 5 years will result to annual cost savings of Php 13,689,500.94.
