Abstract
This stud provides a design of a 10MW concentrated solar power system on Candaba, Pampanga as proposed by the EEC to its partner AGC Solar. The designed system used Euro Trough ETI50 as its collector, Solel UVAC 3 as the receiver and Therminol VP-1 as the heat transfer fluid. The system is oriented 15.03⁰, facing south. It includes thermal energy storage that is active for 6 hours. The total solar aperture area is 130 800m² and the total area of the system is 315 578m² . This will be the input for the simulation using SAM. Based on the results of the simulated model for the project, it can be evaluated that the performance of the system is competitive given that its average output energy per day at 1,503MWh can supply the demand of the entire municipality, 1,114 MWh. Its capacity factor, 27.45% is above the average capacity factor for a CSP system which is at 24%. The performance yield metric shows that the system is expected to be re-evaluated not after the system output decline exceeds 1,803.695 kWh. And the efficiency, 12.4735% is higher compared to the average annual efficiency of the CSP system that operates solely and without backup system at 10-12%.
