Abstract
Electrocardiograms were obtained from 24(male=7 female=17) non-anesthetized apparently healthy red-eared slider turtles (Trachemysscriptaelegans) in order to establish reference ranges. Electrodes were placed using typical 4-axis placement. Results revealed heart rate (HR) of 21.32?83.38 beats per minute P wave duration of 0-0.19mS and amplitude of 0.05-0.12mV. The duration of the QRS complex was 0.07-0.17mS. The amplitude of the R wave was 0.1-0.53mV. The duration of the T wave was 0.03-0.35mS and the amplitude of the T wave was 0.05-0.17mV. HR decreased with increasing weight, width, and girth. R-wave height is significantly higher in females versus males. Weight, length and girth have positive correlation with different ECG waveforms.
