Abstract

The insulation characteristics of OIP and RIP bushings have effects on ageing and dielectric loss. Ageing is evaluated using the Arrhenius equation and Fallou life model with an expected life of 30 years. Using the Arrhenius equation, the insulation type is evaluated according to IEC Standard 60137 and results to 27.695 years for OIP bushing and 29.537 years for RIP. On the other hand, the Fallou life model utilized experimental constants based from related studies conducted by Liao et al. for Oil/Paper insulation and by Cao et al. for Epoxy/Paper insulation which resulted to 29.618 years for OIP and 29.969 years for RIP, respectively. Furthermore, the capacitance and dissipation factors are evaluated using the test result from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines using the standards of the company in line with standards set by IEEE and IEC. Moreover, the dielectric loss is computed with the assumption of heat energy as the dissipation factor which results to 26.857W for OIP bushing and 23.077W and for RIP. Both of the ageing equations and results of tan delta test have conformed to Resin Impregnated as a better bushing compared to OIP bushing.
