Abstract

Construction business has been around for several decades. Through the years, several construction materials and methods have been developed in order to cope up with the changing demands and preferences. Prefabrication was introduced and is gradually being used in residential building construction. EMMEDUE ® , a construction method from Italy, which has been around for several decades in different countries was introduced in the Philippine market. Being a relatively new technology, a comparative analysis with conventional construction method was done in order to compare their cost and installation process. From the results, it was found out that the installation for EMMEDUE can be summarized into four namely, panel holes cutting, panel assembly, utility lines installation, and shotcreting. Also, it was found out that for a single construction, EMMEDUE ® costs 5% higher than conventional construction in terms of consolidated material, labor, and equipment cost. However, the labor cost of EMMEDUE ® is 74% lower this implies that construction duration using EMMEDUE ® is significantly lower than that of conventional construction.
